Shields with monster halph as Milano wins thriller against Paris

Olimpia Milano won a close game against Paris in the Euro Leauge on Friday night, the final score being 79-74. Home team Olimpia had to do without both point guards Leandro Bolmaro and Diego Faccadorri, as well as center Josh Nebo. A lot of foul trouble also forced the Milano club to play a lot of guys out of poistion.

In their absence, it was Mirotic, LeDay (playing mostly at center) and Shields who stepped up. The Danish winger was Olimpia’s leader in booth points and assists. In second half alone he scored 19 points, mostly by driving to the basket.

Decisive bucket

With 21 seconds left to go Olimpia were up two points. Shields had the ball in his hands guarded by forward Mikael Jantunen. He drove to the basket stopped on a dime in the paint and sunk a smooth mid-range jumper, eventually securing the win for Milano.

“We have a long way to go as a team. Honestly, I’m just happy we could come out with the win and get back to practicing and keep building from here”, Shields said to Euro Leuge TV post game.

The Finnish international Jantunen recorded nine points and six rebounds.
