Outstanding Display By Hermansson As Alba Berlin Win In Home Premiere

Alba Berlin got off to a great start in their first Bundesliga home game of the season, in front of 9,085 spectators. They easily dismissed Baskets Oldenburg 105-70. Man of the match was ALBA captain Martin Hermannsson, who scored a double-double with 20 points and 11 assists.

“That was exactly the reaction we wanted to show after the game in Hamburg! Even at the beginning of the game, we showed a completely different appearance compared to last week. We set the tone from the first second; we hadn’t managed to do that against the Towers. The hard training in the last few days has paid off,”  he stated after the game.

Start to finish victory

The Albatrosses put their foot on the gas pedal in the first quarter and were up 28-11 after just 10 minutes. After that, they never looked back, showcasing excellent an defensive permornance and forcing nine turnovers.

Israel González had high praise for his players after the game, bouncing back after the loss to the Towers in the premiere.

“Respect to my players for how they fought for a victory in this difficult situation. We showed a good reaction to the tough defeat in Hamburg, were focused on the game for the full forty minutes, and also played good basketball. We have to continue like this now; after these two games, it should be clear to us how important the will to win is.”

 Alba Berlin has been plauged by injuries at the start of the season. Schneider, Malte Delow, Gabriele Procida, Žiga Samar, and Matt Thomas were all missing against Oldenburg. Instead, it was Williams (16, 9, 6), Spagnolo (11, 2, 5), and Olinde (9, 2) who made shore to fill out the scoresheet. On Thursday they take on Panatinaikhos in the first EuroLeuge game of the season.
