Karl-Anthony Townes dominant in Garden debut – Leads all scores
With the pairing up of Jalen Brunson and KAT, the expectations on the New York Knicks have soared. Even though the stock of Towns isn’t as high as a couple of years ago, most fans expect it to be a huge upgrade from crafty center Isiah Hartenstein. Wednesday night, Knicks fans got a taste of what the new superstar duo can do together.
Brunson and Towns combined for 48 points in the team’s 117-94 win against Washington. Towns finished the game with 12 rebounds while Brunson dished out three assists.
KAT was the leading scorer in Madison Square Garden with 25 points. In the star studded Knicks roster Mikhal Bridges added 16 points. Knicks draft pick Tyler Kolek scored 15 while recording 5 assists.
Number two pick Sarr rise above criticism
On the away team, number two pick Alex Sarr, continues to calm Wizards fans after his Summer Leuge debacle. A display that questioned if the big man was ready for NBA basketball. He finished with 12 points, nine rebounds, three blocks, and three assists. Just three days after he recorded 15 points on 6-of-8 shooting against the Toronto Raptors.
Another European, 20 year old Swiss-Canadian Kyshawn George, was the Wizards leading scorer for the night. He recorded 14 points and four rebounds. New adidtion Jonas Valanciunas socred only four points and ended up with a box score plus/minus of -28.
